A lovely hospital birth in Quebec
Before getting pregnant, I thought that pregnancy was just amazing and easy. I've always seen images of happy and fulfilled pregnant women so I assumed that it was just an amazing positive time. The reality is each pregnancy is different like each birth is different. I struggled with nausea, vomiting and much more and it was a difficult time. What kept me positive was the help of my mother and my family.
"I was walking freely in my movements in my hospital room."
I wanted to have a completely natural birth without an epidural or other drug for pain relief because my mom had warned me of the risks. She told me about the possibilities of paralysis and other side effects and permanent effects.
When my labor started, I began to feel uncomfortable. I used food to cope at first. Afterwards, I used the birth ball to manage the pain. I was walking and free in my movements in my hospital room. My husband was there supporting me. After eight hours of labor, my OB told me to get ready to push. I was relieved that it was coming to an end. I was so anxious to finally meet my baby. After only three pushes my sweet baby came out. It happened so fast. Having him in my arms, warm against my body for the first time is an unforgettable moment. Everytime I look at him, I still think about it.
My advice for a young woman who is aspiring for a child is to pray. I prayed for a natural and healthy birth and I received it. I had faith it would happen and so can you. God bless you!
