After two births with inductions, I decided that I was not going through this path anymore! With my third pregnancy, I stood my ground, and refused inductions 3 times! My baby finally came and I rejoiced that I did it my way. It was my fastest and best birth this far. Now, my fourth pregnancy I decided to forget the hospital and signed up for a birth center.

Throughout my pregnancy, my midwife was really a sweet woman who sowed love and strength in me. She would constantly tell me to listen to my body and that my body sends signals. She would tell me how I was going to be the one giving birth, that it was going to happen just how I wanted it to happen, with whomever I wanted to be there. She mentioned that she was just going to be a helping hand but that everything would be done by me. Although I was excited and happy, it made me a little worried. I didn't know how I was going to give birth all alone without all the "medical equipment" I was used to.

Prior to the birth, I had already decided in which room I wanted to be in and ah those rooms were so beautiful; they look like 4 stars hotel rooms with their comfy beds, en suite bathrooms and birthing bathtubs! I loved it.

I ended up passing the 42 weeks mark. My midwife informed me that usually, at this point, one would be referred to the hospital. I told her I did not want that and they were ready to extend the waiting time just shy of 43 weeks but I did have to do another ultrasound and see an OB.

The OB I saw tried to pressure me into getting induced and used fear tactics. I stood my ground and refused with my husband's support. My doula also helped me feel secure in my decision. The next day, just like I wanted, as I wished and prayed for, in the water, I gave birth all naturally. No medical assistance, just my midwife on the side constantly encouraging me and my husband holding me. It happened so fast, my doula arrived one minute too late.

"Without a doubt, this was my BEST delivery. It was a peaceful yet joyful moment."

I was surrounded by positive and loving people. They made me gain trust in myself and this is what you need when you are expecting and birthing. You need positive people who will feed your soul with love, trust and kindness.

You need to depart yourself from negative mouths and negative experiences. Your pregnancy is unique and you can deliver that baby the way you want it.. well as long as it doesn't put you nor the baby in danger. Remember that it is your experience and the more you do it your way, the more you will feel comfortable to have that unique experience and push the baby out. Be blessed.
